Experimental 3D Drive & Race Replay for F1 COSMOS

Hi! I’m Kyungwon, a developer and an F1 fan.

I started building a browser-based 3D circuit driving game simply because it was something I wanted to play myself. While developing it, I began exploring how the same 3D environment could also support race replays, onboard views, telemetry visualization, and interactive explanations of race events.

I’ve deployed an early playable prototype here:

https://f1-replay-las-vegas-2025.chjkw.chatgpt.site

At the moment, the prototype mainly focuses on interactive driving. The 3D replay functionality is still being developed.

I’d like to suggest exploring this as a small experimental or Labs-style feature for F1 COSMOS rather than as an immediate core feature.

A first experiment could be:

  • Keep the current interactive driving mode

  • Add a limited 3D replay for one past session or selected laps

  • Support follow, onboard, broadcast, and free-camera views

  • Host and maintain the experiment separately at first

  • Link it from F1 COSMOS only if the team finds it useful

  • Gather feedback before considering deeper integration

The project originally began as a circuit driving game, and I would like to keep that interactive mode as part of the experiment. A user could eventually watch a replay and then choose to drive the circuit or try to recreate a particular moment.

This is not a commercial proposal, and I’m not requesting immediate access to F1 COSMOS data. I’d simply like to contribute as a fellow fan and openly develop the idea in a direction that could be useful to the F1 COSMOS community.

I’m also open to completely different ideas. The F1 COSMOS team understands its users and roadmap better than I do, so I’d especially appreciate feedback on where an interactive 3D experience could provide the most value.

Thanks for taking a look!
